Top O’ the Morning to You All!
I find myself painting a lot of blue people sometimes, is that the fabled Blue Period? I dunno, I just love all shades of blue and using them in strange places. Like making grass blue and the sky green or yellow/brown for a change. I’ve never thought of blue as a depressing color. I think it’s beautiful.
I asked ChatGPT if blue was a depressive color and here is what it spit back at me:
The idea that blue is a depressive color is a common myth or cultural belief, and it is not necessarily true. The association of blue with sadness or depression may come from the expression "feeling blue," which means feeling down or low. This expression dates back to the 16th century when the word "blue" was used to describe a melancholic mood or a feeling of sadness.
However, there is no scientific evidence to suggest that blue has a direct effect on our mood or that it is inherently depressing. In fact, different cultures and individuals may associate blue with a range of emotions, including calmness, serenity, and even happiness. For example, in many cultures, blue is associated with the sky and the sea, which can evoke a sense of openness, tranquility, and freedom.
